Honors, Presidential, Chancellor, etc. scholarships offered by individual institutions are generally available to those who rank in the upper level of the graduating class, have accumulated a respectable GPA, and/or have earned a high ACT score.  Contact the institution to which you are applying or check the school’s web site for specific information regarding such scholarships.

AXA Achievement Scholarship - $10,000-$15,000 scholarships will be awarded to 52 students nationwide.  Applicants should be well rounded, committed to making a difference and have demonstrated achievement at a job, sport or extracurricular activity.  Applications: www.axa-achievement.com Deadline: February 15, 2010.

 

HomeStar Education Foundation Scholarship – Twelve students from 10 local high schools will receive $8,000 scholarships (they must be children or grandchildren of HomeStar Bank customers).  Applications available: www.HomeStarBank.com or HomeStar Bank locations. Deadline: February 6, 2010.

 

SAE Engineering Scholarships  - $1,000 - $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors planning on enrolling in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) college or university. ASA Scholarship - $5000 for son/daughter of ASA member who intends to major in agriculture.  Applications available: www.soygrowers.com/soy/scholarship/application.htm.  Deadline: check website, winner selected in November 16, 2009.

 

Lincolnland Legends - $4,000 - $12,000 scholarships awarded, based on your written essay regarding a community leader.  Applications available: www.illinoisdollarsforscholars.org.  Deadline: December 1, 2009.

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student.

All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is looking for high school seniors with entrepreneurial drive, strong perseverance, demonstrated financial need, and who want to pursue a college education at an accredited public institution in the state they reside. HomeStar Bank offers several scholarships. Each recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship every year for four years. Eligibility: any high school senior whose parent or grandparent is a customer of HomeStar bank, applicants must have maintained a 2.5 cumulative grade point average thru seventh semester of high school, applicants must plan to enroll full-time at an accredited two or four year college or trade or vocational school. HomeStar Bank also offers a Hispanic Scholarship program to residents of Kankakee County. Recipients will receive a $500.00 a year scholarship for four years. Illinois PTA offers scholarships for education-related majors. Applicants must rank in the top 33% of their graduating class and plan to enter an education or education-related degree program requiring certification from a state board of education. Phi Delta Kappa offers a scholarship grant for Prospective Educators. Graduating seniors who plan to pursue a teaching career and rank in the upper one-third of their senior class are eligible to apply. For application materials please stop by the RCHS Guidance Office. Deadline for submission: must be postmarked by February 1, 2010.

Zonta Clubs of Kankakee and Zonta Joliet sponsor a Young Woman in Public Affairs Scholarship. To be eligible for this $500 award, the applicant must be a young woman between the ages of 16-20 and attending a post-secondary institution beginning in the summer or fall of 2010. In addition to receiving the $ 500 scholarship from the Zonta Club of Kankakee, the recipient will be eligible to receive a $ 1,000 scholarship from Zonta District 6 and    $ 3,000 from Zonta International. Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties sponsors two $1,000 scholarships to college-bound female high school students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to voluntarism. Applicants must reside in Kane, DuPage, Kendall or Will County. For an application, please visit www.jlkd.org and click on the scholarships link. Applications must be received by March 1, 2010.

Kankakee County Farm Bureau offers $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors residing in Kankakee County accepted to an accredited junior college or university, technical or vocational school with an agriculture-related field of study. Applications are available in the RCHS Guidance Office. Deadline for submission: March 31, 2010.

University of Illinois Secretariat offers the Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship competition to students planning to pursue higher education in the office professional, secretarial, or business-related fields with preference given to attendance at the University of Illinois.   Applicants should be planning to enter college no later than the fall following graduation, have shown involvement in co-curricular or community activities. Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded. The scholarship are to be used for tuition, fees, books or other related expenses. For an application, please stop by the RCHS Guidance Office. Applications must be received by February 12, 2010.

Chicago Roofing Contractors Association offers a yearly scholarship of a maximum of $3000 (renewable three times) to a high school senior who will enter college in the Fall of 2010. Students must be accepted as a full-time student into an undergraduate degree program by a 4-year accredited college in one of the following fields of study: liberal arts and sciences, engineering, architecture or business. Scholarship recipient is selected based on academic performance, faculty recommendation, extra curriculars, employment experience, and a demonstrated interest in a productive career. Morris Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation offers scholarships to individuals who are pursuing healthcare careers. Several different scholarships are available for $1,000 each. Please stop by the RCHS Guidance Office to pick up an application. Deadline for submission is April 1, 2010.

Ilinois Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior, male or female. Student must be a descendant of a male who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Judicial, Executive or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. Student must submit a 500 word essay. For an essay topic and application, please stop by the RCHS Guidance Office. Deadline for submittal is March 15, 2010.

Illinois Elks Association Illinois Elks Children’s Care Program offers college scholarships for physical & occupational therapy majors. Application is available online at http://iea-ccc.info/  Deadline for submittal is March 12, 2010.

America’s Milk Processors and USA Today are pleased to present the 13th annual Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) 2010 program. From now until March 5, 2010, teachers, coaches, principals guidance counselors, parents and relatives are encouraged to nominate a student athlete for the 2010 SAMMY award. Additionally, all high school seniors are allowed and encouraged to nominate themselves. SAMMY applications will be only accepted online at http://www.bodybymilk.com/ until March 5, 2010.

AES Engineers is pleased to announce a renewable scholarship in the amount of $500 for fall 2010. Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of two questions posted on the site: http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.php Deadline for submission: October 8, 2010.

 

Morris Theatre Guild is offering a $500 scholarship to a high school senior who is pursuing a career in some aspect of the theatre arts, speech or speech communications.

 

This will be a one-time award for that student’s freshman year of college. Applications are available in the RCHS Guidance Office. Deadline for submissions: March 15, 2010.

Will County Farm Bureau will offer 18 $1,000 scholarships to a high school senior child of a Will County Farm Bureau member in good standing (paid up to date) at least 2 years prior to December 1, 2009. The scholarship is available for any college or accredited school of higher learning. Applications are available at: http://www.willcfb.com/scholarship10_program.htm. Deadline for submission: May 7, 2010.

Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties offers scholarships to the sons and daughters of Will/Grundy County union building tradesman and/or CAWGC member companies’employees. The Will and Grundy building trades unions include carpenters, cement masons, electrical, iron workers, laborers, operating engineers, plumbers and more. Applicants must be high school seniors planning to attend college full-time in the fall, pursuing a construction related filed major and a “C” or better grade point average. Applications are available in the RCHS Guidance Office. Deadline for submission is April 30, 2010. Applicants will also undergo an interview process.

MarianJoy Rehabilitation Hospital offers scholarships for students will physical disabilities. The scholarships are for the 2010-11 school year. Applications are available in the RCHS Guidance office or on the website: www.Marianjoy.org Deadline for submission is: April 12, 2010

Joliet Junior College offers over 400 scholarships for both full and part-time students. Scholarships may be re-posted so check website frequently.
