Coming and Going

The following guidelines are to be utilized in transporting your child to and from school.

Morning Arrival:

  • Drop off your child in back of Reed Custer Intermediate School.
  • Staff will assist students exiting cars.
  • All students enter through the main rear entrance.
  • Do not park on School Street.
  • Buses will be dropping students off in the front of the school.
  • Children may only be dropped off at the school they attend.

Afternoon Dismissal:

  • When picking up your child after school, please be aware that School Street becomes one-way moving south between 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Cars may begin lining up at 2:50 p.m. in the rear of the school.
  • When students exit the school they are to enter cars at the designated area at the rear of the school, which is supervised by school staff.
  • Please do not instruct your child to meet your car in another location.
  • When everyone follows the procedure, it only takes 10 minutes to get all students on their way. I think we would all agree that it is worth 10 minutes of our time to ensure the safety of all children!
  • If you need to pick up your child for an appointment, please use the main entrance and report to the office.
  • Please notify the office before 1:00 p.m. if you are picking your child up early, after 1:00 p.m. changes will be made only in the case of emergency.
  • Children may only be picked up at the school they attend.

The safety of your child is our main concern.

Bus Transportation:

  • Pick-up and drop-off are at the bus stop nearest your home unless you have a bus exemption or you are picking your child up.
  • If you do not want your child to ride the bus on a particular day because you are picking him up, please send a note to your child's teacher and/or call the office by 1:00 p.m.

Bus Exemptions:

  • Desired pick-up and drop-off locations must be consistent for the entire school year. A child may be picked up at one location and dropped off at another site but this must be constant. If a change were to occur on any given day, the parent would be responsible for transportation.
  • There must be adequate capacity on the bus if a request would require a child to ride a different bus route.

Lunch Room News

Parents may join their child for lunch. Please remember to sign in at the office. We appreciate your cooperation in waiting a week or two to begin coming to lunch, so that we may establish our routine.

We will be continuing this year with prepaying for lunch. Parents are requested to prepay a sum of money to a student's account, which will then act as a declining balance account. If your child had money in his/her account from last year, it will be added to the amount you send at the beginning of this year.

If you would like to check your child's balance call Bonnie Myers, RCIS Food Service Director, at 458-4142.

When making a deposit to your child's lunch account, money (check preferred) should be put in an envelope with the following information written on the outside:

  • student name
  • grade
  • teacher
