Indicators of NCREL's Engaged Learning

* The teacher becomes the facilitator, helping students construct their own meaning.

* The learning context is collaborative, with the goal of knowledge building.

* The task is multidisciplinary, and accomplished by heterogeneous grouping.

Planning Notes: Collaborative decision making is primary to this project. Students will be encouraged to investigate the selected web sites thoroughly prior to selecting their destination. Once the destination selection is made, creative use of mind and materials will make this project fun and educational. Groups will have to work together as they decide where to go, what to do, and how to share this information with the class. We estimate spending two or three weeks on the project.
