Bear Catania Remembers Ellis Island

One of the most famous of all islands to Americans is Ellis Island. It is through Ellis Island that thousands of immigrants passed years ago, ready to begin life in a new land, The United States of America.

Learn about Ellis Island HERE.

One of our Custer Park Travelling Teddies, Bear Catania, visited historical areas near Ellis Island during the summer of 2002 with one of our students, Mike, and his family. Here are some photos of Bear Catania and Mike near historic places in the USA.

Near the Statue of Liberty - our symbol for freedom

Near the White House - home of our president

At the Lincoln Monument - remembering our 16th president

At the Washington Monument - remembering our first president

At the Vietnam Wall -

remembering soldiers who gave their lives for freedom

Special Note:

Bear Catania had originally spent the first days of "real bear life" on a ship in the ocean near Greece helping our US troups (and our student Zack's Uncle Chris) protect the world against terrorism on the seas after 9-1-1. Read more about that trip HERE!
