Alex Learns About Chickens

I have been reading a book about chickens.
In my book, it says that chickens are the most common and most important bird in the world. In fact, there are nearly NINE BILLION chickens on this earth! Three billion of them live in the United States. China, Russia and the United States produce the most chickens.
My neighbor has chickens, and our family will be getting some soon. People like to have their own chickens so they don't have to buy eggs. Eggs are good for you to eat.
There are many interesting facts about chickens. For example, chickens have rounded wings. You will find combs on top of a chicken's head. Under their beak they have waddles. Their wings can get up to eighteen feet long! Chickens can weigh as much as twelve pounds!
How about answering the age old question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Well, some scientists think since dinosaur eggs were on the earth before chickens, and early chickens seemed to have evolved from ancient bird eggs, that means the EGG came first!
