During duck hunting season, I like to go duck hunting with my mom's friend. Before I could hunt, I had to take a gun safety course.My gun is a 20 guage shotgun.

We go hunting by a lake. The duck blind that we sit in hides us from the ducks. We use a duck call to attract the ducks to our decoys. Once in a while a whole flock will come in. When we first get there to untangle the decoys, there are usually ducks there already.

I was 8 when I shot my first duck. It was an American Wigeon.The female ducks are not as colorful as the males. The American Wigeon male has a green dot on its head. After I shot the duck, we went in the boat to get it and bring it back to the duck blind.

When we got home, I had to help clean the duck. We pluck off the feathers from the bottom of the duck and cut open the breast. We keep the breast meat to cook. I like to keep the curved up feathers if it's a Mallard.
