A Touch of History

The history of Custer Park itself is chronicled in a booklet created by a few community members of years gone by. According to the memories of Custer Park residents, wealthy people from Chicago vacationed at the Custer Park Bowery, an amusement park complete with boat rides on the Kankakee River, in the early 1900s. The area once known as the Custer Park Bowery is now home to the playground of Custer Park Elementary School!
