Question: Where exactly is Miyake Elementary School located?

Answer: Miyake Elementary School is located in the southern part of Japan in a town called Kaminaka Town. It is north of Kyoto on the Sea of Japan in the Fukui Prefecture. Click HERE to see a map.

 

Question: In our first long email, we asked several questions about the homes of Japan.

Answer: Most of our questions are answered on Miyake's web page about Japanese homes. Go to the main page for Miyake Elementary. Then follow the link at the top of their page to "culture". You will find a whole section about their homes. It is very interesting and includes photos.

 

Question: Since we recently had our first big snowfall in Illinois, we sent a quick question to Miyake's webmaster asking if students in Japan ever have "snow days".

Answer: The answer is no, students at Miyake Elementary have not had a snow day for the past 20 years!

 

Question: We asked a couple of quick questions. One was do the students of Miyake write in all three forms of the Japanese language, kanji, hirangana and katakana.

Answer: The answer was, "Yes, they write kanji, hirangana and katakana."
