Course Description: This is a course that follows the traditional curriculum in American Literature. From its earliest samples to contemporary issues, the literature - poetry, short fiction, novels, nonfiction, drama - that helped shape American values and ideals shall be the focus. The course will also review the rules of grammar and rhetoric students need to succeed on the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) and the American College Test (ACT) given in April. Students can expect to read one classic American novel and one contemporary American novel.
